This highly desirable ‘D’ model with ‘suicide doors’, a full-length convertible sunshine roof - ‘trasformabile’, ‘round speedo’ and is a genuine right-hand-drive.

It’s an original RHD example manufactured at the Fiat Mirafiori plant in Turin on 30th December 1964.

Purchased from Signature Automobiles in Kent, UK and shipped to Australia in 2020. At the time is was showing 6 owners on the UK V5C.

See advertisement below from 2020 when purchased.

The owner kept the vehicle in a heated underground central London carpark, where it sat unused & under a car cover since the summer of 2016.

This rare RHD example underwent a full restoration in the spring of 2015. The attention to detail & quality of workmanship has paid real dividends, as it has stood up fantastically well & only covered a nominal mileage since.

From a forensic examination of this splendid example on our ramps it appears the works consisted in brief of:

Body fully stripped back to shell & bare metaled. New cills & front panel fitted. A full professional re-paint in the original Fiat Aquamarina 433 colour including the engine bay, boot void & cockpit etc. Fully refurbished steel wheels, new inner tubes & tyres. The engine was replaced with a new crate Fiat 126, 650cc Motor & new syncro gear box. It ensured this stunning example could keep up with London traffic. A rewire was undertaken, new springs & dampers fitted, front disc brake conversion, new rubber seals & gaskets complete to vehicle. Lights, lenses, badges, wheel cylinders, brake shoes & hoses, copper brake lines & brake consumables. Stub axels, wishbones, bushes, trailer arms, bushes, full suspension, track rod ends, rubber buffers, spring mounts, master cylinder, exhaust & gaskets etc, pedal rubbers, gear lever gaiter, front & rear bumpers & mounts, washer pump, light lenses, drive shafts.

The interior complete was retrimmed by a master professional trimmer in tan with aquamarine piping to match the body colour. The door cards & rear quarter cards were also done to match along with the dashboard knee roll & cubby hole. The carpets were also done by the trimmer in tan Wilton & were finished with black handmade over mats edged in tan. This is the best interior we have ever seen on any 500 & as its all handmade looks fantastic & sumptuous. The interior would have cost in excess of £2,000 alone.

The vehicle is showing 71,478 miles from new but only less than 500 miles since the nut & bolt restoration.

As noted this sporty little number also has a 650cc (126) Fiat motor fitted, mated to a new syncro gearbox & front disc brakes which makes it very drivable & quick for a Fiat 500D.

Since recently being in our possession, we have been meticulous in our further preparation & recommissioning prior to offering this exceptional example to the market by undertaking the following works:

We fitted a new premium Varta battery, new exhaust & gaskets, fitted new white wall spats, 2 chrome wing mirrors, wiper blades, the correct D engine decal set, front bumper, driver lockable door handle, heat shield pad. Adjusted the steering geometry

We have conducted a forensic full valet & done a complete 3M machine polish & full Swiss wax preparation of the external paintwork.
